Archbishop Sentamu Academy is at an exciting time in its development.  An 11-18 academy sponsored by the Diocese of York, we achieved “Good with Outstanding Features” in our OfSTED inspection in 2014, “Outstanding” in our section 48 SIAMS inspection, and have enjoyed four successive years of strongly rising exam results.  In 2013 63% of students gained 5+ A* to C including English and Maths, and 100% achieved 5+ A* to C (up from 29% in 2009). This had led to the academy being in the top 50 most improved schools nationally for two consecutive periods: 2009-2012, and also 2010-2013.  This year, we were also 108th nationally for achievement of students in receipt of the pupil premium.  Equally importantly, we enjoy success in sports and the Performing Arts; our students have won the National Rock Challenge competition twice, and students have taken part in sporting tours in both Spain and Australia.

We currently have two teaching vacancies at Archbishop Sentamu Academy  (closing date 29th September 2014):

ASPIRE is a new Alternative Provision Academy born out of ‘outstanding inclusion provisions’ (OFSTED 2014) at Archbishop Sentamu Academy. We opened our doors to students in September 2014 and will be moving to new, purpose built premises in East Hull in January 2015 with the aim of becoming the largest AP Academy in the UK.

Students who struggle academically, with attendance, with behavioural or emotional issues do so for any number of reasons and contributing factors. However, we believe that they still have much to offer their local, national and global communities and that they have the right to a high quality education, irrespective of their individual needs, vulnerabilities or barriers to learning.

With greater flexibility with the curriculum and opportunities for engagement ASPIRE can take large numbers of vulnerable and challenging students, whilst providing high quality education, life skills, opportunities to develop resilience in preparation for positive post-16 outcomes.

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum where students study National Curriculum subjects at Key Stage 3 and a range of GCSEs and Vocational qualifications at Key Stage 4. Through modified learning approaches, intense learning packages and with excellent facilities, we aim to bring students’ learning back on track and accelerate progress.

We currently have the following vacancies to start in January 2015:

Teacher of English

Teacher of Maths

Teacher of Science

Teacher of Construction

Teacher of Motor Vehicle Engineering.
