Archbishop Sentamu Academy is at an exciting time in its development.  An 11-18 academy sponsored by the Diocese of York, we achieved “Good with Outstanding Features” in our OfSTED inspection in 2014, “Outstanding” in our section 48 SIAMS inspection, and have enjoyed four successive years of strongly rising exam results.  In 2013 63% of students gained 5+ A* to C including English and Maths, and 100% achieved 5+ A* to C (up from 29% in 2009). This had led to the academy being in the top 50 most improved schools nationally for two consecutive periods: 2009-2012, and also 2010-2013.  This year, we were also 108th nationally for achievement of students in receipt of the pupil premium.  Equally importantly, we enjoy success in sports and the Performing Arts; our students have won the National Rock Challenge competition twice, and students have taken part in sporting tours in both Spain and Australia.

Teacher of Music

We are currently looking for a talented, enthusiastic and inspirational qualified teacher to join the Music Department that provides BTEC and GCSE Music. Music is popular in the Academy, offering plenty of opportunities for Extra Curricular Performance. In the past year, our singing group has performed at East Park, the Guildhall in Hull and recently as part of a choir of 6000 at Wembley Arena. NQTs are welcome.

Exam Invigilator Vacancy –casual


Salary : £8.50 per hour


We are currently looking to increase our pool of Exam Invigilators for our May/June exam period.


The Role of an Exam Invigilator is to supervise all aspects of the exam and remain vigilant throughout to ensure that exams are carried out according to the rules set out by the exam board.


Previous experience is not required however excellent English communication skills are essential. Invigilators need to be reliable with excellent time-keeping skills and possess a confident, professional and co-operative manner.


Hours are casual and will be variable throughout the exam season.  Invigilators will not necessarily be required for all the exams; we will work out a timetable for each invigilator based on their availability and our needs.


Candidates must be willing to undertake some training to ensure that we comply with the latest rules and regulations.


Applicants are subject to passing vetting checks i.e; references and an enhanced DBS, the cost of which will be met by the Academy.

Cover Supervisor


  • Admin Grade 6 SCP 23-26
  • 37 hours per week term time only plus 5 training days

We are currently looking for a highly motivated individual to fulfil a Cover Supervisor role at our Academy.


The ideal candidate will have experience as a Teaching Assistant qualified at NVQ Level 3, or possessing 5 or more GCSEs (including English and Mathematics), NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Mathematics/numeracy and English, experience of working with children age 11-16 preferable in an education background, strong behaviour management skills, persistence, plenty of enthusiasm and the desire to help make a difference.


The position will involve providing cover for short term planned or unplanned absence of a teacher by taking registration, supervising lessons and managing student behaviour in line with academy policies.
