Welcome to Archbishop Sentamu Academy. I am both delighted and proud to be the first Principal of the new Academy and to be leading it through an incredibly important period in its life.

This is a truly exciting time for the community of East Hull and the City, brought about by the innovative approach to transforming learning under BSF and the Academies programme.  This is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, starting right now, to re-write our future and the young people at Archbishop Sentamu Academy are central to that vision.

Children are natural optimists. It is my mission to maintain that optimism throughout their time at Archbishop Sentamu Academy and into their working lives. How will we do this?

– By nurturing a love of learning
– By expecting more of our students in their work, appearance, courtesy and behaviour
– By providing state-of-the-art facilities and resources
– By offering new chances to succeed in ways they never previously thought possible
– By promoting understanding and respect for faith and its importance in our world
– By encouraging stewardship of the environment and service to their community.

I passionately believe that there is no limit to what a young person can achieve if they are given the right levels of encouragement and high quality learning opportunities.  This is exactly what I want for every student as they go through the Academy.

School days really are among the best of our lives. It’s the time when we learn, grow and develop our own unique personalities. A great experience at school prepares you for your future as a confident individual who can make a tremendous contribution to the community.

I very much look forward to welcoming all Archbishop Sentamu students every September, and to meeting parents and carers as the term progresses. You will notice the changes in recent years – the smart uniform, a new behaviour policy, a focused learning environment and no bells!

Above all, we will be building on the ‘Archie Family’ spirit and taking our place at the heart of a loyal community. These are priceless assets and will be a key strength as we develop our new Academy.

On Thursday 10th July I was invited along to your Academy by my sister, who works in the academy to see your performance of sister act 2.
I was most impressed with the performance of such talented students. They put on an outstanding show. Well done to everyone involved.
I am very much looking forward to the next performance what ever it might be.
